It became virtually impossible for me to respond manually to every single comment, and I felt terrible that many of you weren’t able to get your hands on the recipe. That’s why I decided to bring it to the blog for everyone to enjoy, and luckily now I’m able to automatically respond to Instagram comments to make sure you all receive the recipes!

The recipe uses just a few very simple ingredients, that when combined together whip up into a delicious, fluffy concoction that’s very low in carbs, but oh, so satisfying. I feel like it has tons of opportunities for flavor variations, as well, that I’m going to need to start testing out. Peanut butter + chocolate is one of my all time favorite combinations, so it came first.

The Ingredients Behind the Magic

The key to this keto mousse recipe lies in combining rich, creamy ingredients that come together to form a thick, fluffy, and decadent dessert. Each ingredient plays an important role in achieving that signature mousse texture:

  • Cream Cheese: The foundation of the mousse, providing a smooth and tangy base that balances the richness of peanut butter.
  • Peanut Butter: The star of the show. Choosing a creamy, unsweetened peanut butter ensures a bold, nutty flavor while keeping the recipe keto-friendly.
  • Heavy Cream: This ingredient is responsible for the light, whipped texture that makes mousse so irresistible. Beating heavy cream into the mixture creates those air pockets that make the dessert fluffy.
  • Powdered Sugar-Free Sweetener: Using a powdered sweetener is essential for a smooth texture. Granular sweeteners can leave the mousse gritty, so opt for one with a confectioners’ sugar consistency.
  • Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Cups: A fun optional topping that adds extra indulgence. These can be store-bought or homemade using sugar-free chocolate chips and peanut butter.

The Secret to Perfect Keto Mousse

The process of making keto peanut butter mousse is just as simple as the ingredient list. However, there are a few tips to ensure you achieve the perfect texture:

  1. Room Temperature Cream Cheese: Starting with softened cream cheese makes it easier to blend, ensuring there are no lumps in your mousse.
  2. Gradual Whipping: Adding the heavy cream gradually and whipping as you go is crucial. This technique allows the mixture to aerate properly, giving you a light and fluffy texture.
  3. Taste and Adjust: The sweetness of your mousse depends on your personal preference and the brand of sweetener you use. Taste as you go and adjust the sweetener as needed.
  4. Chill for a Firmer Texture: While you can enjoy the mousse immediately, chilling it in the refrigerator for an hour or two gives it a firmer, cheesecake-like consistency.

The mixture will start out looking like frosting, then will almost double in size and become super thick, fluffy, and mousse-like as you add the cream and continue beating it. Serve immediately for the ultimate whipped & fluffy experience, or refrigerate before enjoying for a more cheesecake-like texture.

Ideas for Customizing Your Keto Mousse

One of the best things about this keto mousse recipe is how versatile it is. Here are a few ways to customize it to suit your cravings:

  • Chocolate Lover’s Twist: Add a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder for a rich chocolate and peanut butter flavor combo.
  • Nut-Free Option: Swap out peanut butter for sunflower seed butter to make the recipe nut-free while keeping it keto-friendly.
  • Coffee Infusion: Mix in a teaspoon of instant coffee granules for a mocha-inspired mousse.
  • Berry Bliss: Top with fresh raspberries or strawberries for a fruity contrast to the rich peanut butter.

How to Serve Keto Peanut Butter Mousse

This keto mousse recipe is incredibly versatile when it comes to serving. Here are some ideas to elevate your dessert presentation:

  • Individual Cups: Spoon the mousse into small jars or ramekins for a perfectly portioned dessert.
  • Layered Parfaits: Create a parfait by layering the mousse with sugar-free whipped cream and crushed keto cookies.
  • Toppings Galore: Add chopped sugar-free peanut butter cups, a drizzle of melted sugar-free chocolate, or a sprinkle of crushed peanuts for extra texture and flavor.
  • As a Frosting: This mousse works beautifully as a frosting for keto cakes or cupcakes.

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze the mousse and thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
Sweetener Options: If you don’t have a powdered sugar-free sweetener, you can blend a granular sweetener in a high-powered blender or food processor to achieve a similar texture.
